Culture in Hand
“If objects could talk, they would tell their own story.”
In collaboration with global designer and educator Amy Gendler, Culture in Hand (CiH) is a classroom extension of WoodPaperHand. This in-the-world program is devised for students in-classroom, outdoors or online. Facilitated through customized or theme-based series of cultural objects, we connect students to material works handmade of organic materials by integrating them with timely learning contexts to learn and respect the world cultures and the diversity of people and living environments.
Amy’s collection of Jewish doorpost mezuzahs represent a range of heritage, material, design sensory and symbolic values as well as multicultural handcrafted techniques for tactile learning.
